Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are documents designed to communicate information about the properties of substances and mixtures, their hazards, instructions for handling, disposal, and transport, and also first-aid, firefighting, and exposure control measures. The learn more about how to read an SDS please review this chart.
SRJC supports an employee’s right to know what they are exposed to in the workplace and to have readily available access to SRJC’s SDS inventory information. As an educational institution, SRJC also supports public access to our SDSs for our visitors and for students working with substances and mixtures in their coursework. Therefore, SRJC provides access to the District’s SDS inventory stored online using our third-party SDS vendor, SiteHawk Communicator. Please see SiteHawk Communicator’s Tutorial of SRJC’s chemical inventory.
All SRJC departments that use, handle, or store hazardous chemicals must maintain an inventory of the hazardous chemicals present in their work areas. Inventories must be entered in the District’s, online SDS inventory database, SiteHawk Communicator. The SRJC EH&S Department is responsible for the management of the District’s SiteHawk Communicator SDS Database program.
